Mission, Vision & Values

The foundations that guide BiblioWeb.

Introduction

This Declaration of Principles and Values guides the institution and is the fruit of a prior unanimous convention among its founders. Grounded in the absolute values of God, it pursues the institutional objectives and the honor of the Lord Jesus until His glorious return. Therefore, the code described here is the foundation for the existence of the association and the standard for new members, especially voting ones.

Moreover, within these principles and values, biblical-Christian ethics is the compass for behavior and decisions, with explicit clarity between “right” and “wrong”, “just” and “unjust”, “good” and “evil”, all according to the criterion of the Holy Scriptures.

Mission

To glorify GOD through the non-profit ministry of a virtual library at the service of God's people, acting in favor of the educational and cultural formation of students of schools, seminaries, churches and Christians in general who seek knowledge of the Holy Scriptures under the Reformed biblical faith, with predominance of the Portuguese language.

Vision

To be and act as a constant and growing visible arm of the LORD God's provision in educational and cultural formation, according to the Reformed biblical worldview of His Word, making this content available via the internet to all qualified users; thus serving Christians anywhere on the planet through technology and the internet.

Principles and Values

The BiblioWeb Cultural Association is a Christian institution of biblical-Reformed worldview, whose rule of faith and practice is the Holy Scriptures. Thus, it holds its belief:

  1. 01In the five pillars of the 16th-century Protestant Reformation: Sola Gratia; Sola Fide; Sola/Tota Scriptura, corresponding to the 66 canonical books recognized in the Reformation; in Solus Christus; in Soli DEO Gloria!
  2. 02In the Triune God, Thrice Holy, Perfect and Sovereign, who subsists in three persons: the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit, as expressed in the Nicene and Athanasian Creeds.
  3. 03In the confessional nature of the Calvinist legacy as the best methodology for the systematic interpretation of the Holy Scriptures, recognizing as faithful expositions the Three Forms of Unity (Belgic Confession, 1561; Heidelberg Catechism, 1563; Canons of Dort, 1619); the Westminster Standards (1649, Confession of Faith and Larger/Shorter Catechisms); and as a faithful Calvinist system the Savoy Declaration (1658) and the 1689 Baptist Confession of Faith.
  4. 04In the imperative to fulfill Christian ethics according to biblical precepts of morality and virtue, as summarized in the Decalogue and the Sermon on the Mount, implying that all collaborators be “men [and women] who have nothing to be ashamed of, rightly handling the Word of Truth”.
  5. 05In the fraternal unity that should govern functional relations within the BiblioWeb Cultural Association, after the example of the Trinitarian unity.
  6. 06In the imperative of common effort toward the goals expressed in the Mission and Vision of the Association.
  7. 07In the imperative to remain under the practice of integrity, compliance with legal norms, transparency and independence from the State.
  8. 08In the duty of observing the Creation mandates of Genesis, especially the cultural one, preserving and enjoying resources through the lens of sustainability and stewardship of goods belonging to the Creator.
  9. 09In the duty of faithfulness of purpose regarding the resources raised, handled with full responsibility solely for the realization of the statutory objectives of the institution; the same applying to technological tools, networks of relationships and partnerships, and intellectual collection, used only in service of the institution and its beneficiaries, never for private or individual interest.
  10. 10In the duty of conditioning any partnerships and the enjoyment of the services offered by the association so as not to compromise the values and principles established herein, as a common promotion of welfare, Christian nobility and the Glory of GOD.
